Antimicrobial Fabric
ChemStat 969Z Plus is the ultimate garment fabric for sterile cleanroom environments, such as pharmaceutical and biotechnology manufacturing. It offers the opportunity to lower the bioburden in a cleanroom via the garment system.
Composed of 100% multifilament polyester, ChemStat 969Z Plus relies on a conductive stripe to render the fabric static-dissipative. Although ChemStat 969Z Plus is a plain weave (taffeta) construction, its design avoids the stiffness and scratchiness of other high-density taffetas offered elsewhere.
Significantly, ChemStat 969Z Plus employs polyester fibers that are inherently antimicrobial to provide a barrier to bacteria and fungi. These state-of-the-art fibers contain in their polymer structure silver and zinc ions permanently affixed in a ceramic matrix. The ions interfere with cell division, in a manner similar to iontophoresis.
ChemStat 969Z Plus is effective against a broad range of bacteria and fungi, and, unlike antibiotics, does not evoke resistant strains of bacteria. Typically affected bacteria and fungi are:
- Aspergillus niger
- Bacillus subtilis
- Escherichia coli (E. coli)
- Klebsiella pneumoniae
- Methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus (MRSA)
- Penicillium citrinum
- Pseudomonas aeruginosa
- Salmonella typhimurium
- Staphylococcus aureus
- Tricophyton mentagrophytes
- Vibrio parahaemolyticus
The anti-microbial effect is not altered by acids, organic solvents, or disinfectants. ChemStat 969Z Plus may be universally laundered and sterilized. ChemStat 969Z Plus optionally offers splash resistance using a TeflonĀ® Plus fluorochemical surface finish.
ChemStat 969Z Plus is available in Linen White and Light Blue.
